Job Description
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is seeking highly skilled and dedicated Professional Symphony Musicians to join our prestigious ensemble. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all scheduled rehearsals and performances with the highest level of artistic integrity and professionalism.
- Prepare assigned musical parts thoroughly and accurately, demonstrating mastery of your instrument.
- Collaborate effectively with conductors, fellow musicians, and guest artists to achieve cohesive ensemble performances.
- Adhere to the orchestra's established schedule, policies, and procedures.
- Engage in community outreach programs, educational initiatives, and other promotional activities as required.
- Maintain and care for your instrument, ensuring it is in optimal playing condition.
- Represent the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra with distinction in all professional and public interactions.
Required Skills
- Exceptional mastery and technical proficiency on your primary orchestral instrument.
- Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of musical styles and periods with accuracy and artistry.
- Superior sight-reading skills and the ability to quickly assimilate new musical material.
- Strong ensemble playing skills, including intonation, rhythm, and dynamic control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive collaborative environment.
- A deep passion for classical music and a commitment to orchestral performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Performance from an accredited institution.
- Prior professional experience in a major symphony orchestra or equivalent ensemble.
- A track record of successful auditions for professional orchestral positions.
- Experience with chamber music and solo performance.
- Participation in nationally recognized music festivals or competitions.
