Job Description
Join the Public Works team as an Early Morning Public Beaches Maintenance Worker. This vital role ensures that Campbellton’s beautiful public beaches are pristine and ready for public enjoyment each day. You will be responsible for the daily cleanup and general maintenance of beach areas, restrooms, and surrounding facilities, requiring an early start and a commitment to cleanliness and public safety. This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily litter and debris collection on public beaches and adjacent areas.
- Empty waste receptacles and replace liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitize public restrooms and changing facilities.
- Conduct visual inspections of beach areas for hazards or maintenance issues and report them promptly.
- Maintain beach furniture, signage, and other amenities.
- Operate light maintenance equipment as required (e.g., leaf blowers, small utility vehicles).
- Assist with minor repairs and landscaping tasks around beach access points.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and city regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good observational skills to identify and report issues.
- Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar outdoor labor role.
- Familiarity with operating basic maintenance tools and equipment.
- Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of local bylaws and environmental regulations related to beach maintenance.
