Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Science & Tech Policy Aide to join our team in Fullerton, CA. This role will support our innovation initiatives and projects related to NASA, contributing to the development and analysis of policies that shape the future of aerospace and technology. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in public policy, science and technology, and a foundational understanding of government operations and legislative processes. You will work closely with senior policy advisors and technical teams to research, analyze, and communicate policy recommendations that align with our strategic goals and support national objectives in space exploration and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on current and emerging science and technology policy issues, with a focus on aerospace, defense, and space exploration.
  • Assist in the drafting of policy briefs, white papers, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including government officials and industry partners.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to NASA and other relevant federal agencies.
  • Support the preparation of public comments, testimony, and other submissions on proposed policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, and business development professionals, to understand technical aspects and integrate them into policy considerations.
  • Organize and participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences with policy experts, government representatives, and industry leaders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts by identifying potential policy impacts and opportunities for innovation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and geopolitical factors affecting science and technology policy.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Science & Technology Studies, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in policy research, analysis, or advocacy, preferably within a government, think tank, or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities, with proficiency in data collection and synthesis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with or knowledge of NASA's mission, programs, and policy landscape.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Experience in project management or coordination.
  • Prior experience supporting legislative affairs or government relations activities.
