Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver HGV driving instruction programs for new and existing drivers.
- Conduct practical driving assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure all training adheres to company policies, national regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of driver training, qualifications, and progress.
- Stay updated on the latest HGV technology, regulations, and best practices.
- Mentor and support drivers in developing their skills and professionalism.
- Participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of training materials.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the driving team.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with no restrictions.
- Minimum 5 years of verifiable HGV driving experience.
- Proven ability to operate various types of heavy goods vehicles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance.
- Ability to teach and clearly explain complex driving concepts.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record keeping and reporting.
- Commitment to safety and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an HGV instructor or trainer.
- Certification in driver education or instructional techniques.
- Experience with defensive driving courses and advanced vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of UPS operational procedures and logistics systems.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
