Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Remote Software Documentation Clerk to join our team. In this writing-focused role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of our software documentation for a global audience. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a leading open-source company from anywhere. You will work closely with technical writers, engineers, and product managers to support the creation and maintenance of high-quality documentation that empowers our users and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, edit, and proofread technical documentation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and adherence to style guides.
  • Format and organize content using various documentation tools and platforms.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining existing documentation, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
  • Collaborate with technical writers and subject matter experts to gather information and clarify technical concepts.
  • Manage documentation versions and assist with content publishing workflows.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, tone, and style across all documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for documentation improvement and suggest enhancements.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in text.
  • Proficiency with word processing software (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft Word).
  • Basic understanding of technical concepts or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, Markdown, or similar content management systems.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Prior experience in a remote work environment.
