Job Description
Join Scripps Health as a Medical Center Pharmacy Technician with a focus on career progression. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounding.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceuticals.
- Process medication orders and manage patient profiles within the pharmacy system.
- Perform routine medication cart fills and exchanges for various patient care areas.
- Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations, as well as Scripps Health policies and procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a safe pharmacy environment.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities to advance career goals.
Required Skills
- Current California Pharmacy Technician license.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or retail setting.
- Proficiency in pharmacy calculations and medication dispensing systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Experience with Epic Willow Inpatient or similar hospital pharmacy software.
- Sterile compounding experience.
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital or large medical center.
