Job Description
Join our esteemed research team at Colorado College as a Junior Fossil Handler! This entry-level position is perfect for enthusiastic individuals with no prior experience who are eager to delve into the fascinating world of paleontology. You will work alongside experienced paleontologists and researchers, learning the essential techniques of fossil discovery, excavation, preparation, and conservation. This is a hands-on role that offers weekly pay and a unique opportunity to contribute to scientific discovery and preserve ancient history.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior paleontologists and lab technicians with the careful excavation of fossil specimens in the field.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for cleaning, stabilizing, and preparing delicate fossil finds in a laboratory setting.
- Accurately document specimen information, including location, geological context, and preservation details.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory spaces, field equipment, and storage areas.
- Participate in field surveys and expeditions, adhering to all safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Follow precise instructions for handling, packing, and transporting invaluable paleontological materials.
- Contribute to the cataloging and inventory of fossil collections.
Required Skills
