Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Endoscopy Nurse to join our dedicated team. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to work within a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care throughout the endoscopic procedure cycle, including pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure recovery. This role is open to international candidates who are eligible for or hold current RN licensure in Pennsylvania and are looking to make a significant impact in a leading healthcare system in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments, including patient history, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
  • Prepare patients for various endoscopic procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
  • Assist gastroenterologists and other specialists during endoscopic procedures (e.g., EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy) by handling equipment, managing patient comfort, and administering medications.
  • Continuously monitor patients' physiological status, including sedation levels, oxygen saturation, cardiac rhythm, and vital signs during and after procedures.
  • Administer conscious sedation and other medications under physician supervision, ensuring accurate dosing and comprehensive documentation.
  • Provide clear and concise post-procedure care instructions and education to patients and their families.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, sterility, and proper functioning of all endoscopic instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records for all patient encounters.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesiologists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives within the endoscopy unit.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in an endoscopy unit, critical care, or emergency department setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IV insertion and phlebotomy.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining composure and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN).
  • Experience with Epic EHR system.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultural backgrounds and experience supporting international patients.
  • Previous experience with procedural sedation.
