Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate State/Provincial Foster Care Assistant to join our team in White Plains, NY. This office-based role is crucial in supporting our foster care program, ensuring the smooth operation of administrative tasks, and directly contributing to the well-being of children and foster families. The successful candidate will provide essential clerical and logistical support, helping our caseworkers and program managers focus on direct service delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain confidential client files and program documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state regulations.
  • Assist with the intake process for new foster families and children, including processing applications and scheduling initial meetings.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and training sessions for foster parents, children, and staff.
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and other materials related to foster care cases.
  • Provide administrative support to foster care caseworkers, including data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
  • Liaise with external agencies, schools, and healthcare providers as needed to gather and disseminate information.
  • Assist in organizing foster parent support groups and recognition events.
  • Handle incoming calls and inquiries, providing information or directing callers to the appropriate staff member.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards children and families in crisis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Previous administrative experience in a social services or non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with foster care regulations and systems in New York State.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
