Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced City Recreation Center Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of one of Bath’s key community recreation facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and engaging environment for all users, managing staff, coordinating programs, and maintaining equipment. This pivotal role requires a passion for community service, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to promoting active lifestyles. You will work closely with community groups, local schools, and residents to identify needs and develop innovative recreational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all day-to-day operations of the recreation center, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate recreation staff, including lifeguards, fitness instructors, and front desk personnel.
  • Develop, implement, and promote a diverse range of recreational programs and activities for all age groups.
  • Oversee facility maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment inventory, coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Manage budget allocations for programs, supplies, and staffing, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure a safe environment by enforcing rules, regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and local authorities to enhance program offerings.
  • Prepare regular reports on center usage, program participation, and operational performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in recreation management or a similar supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to recreation facilities.
  • Ability to handle demanding situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with recreation software and scheduling systems.
  • Certification in a specific recreation discipline (e.g., personal training, aquatics, group fitness).
