Job Description
Join FedEx Freight, a leader in the less-than-truckload (LTL) industry, as a Class A Day Cab Driver. We are looking for dedicated and safety-conscious professional drivers to handle local routes within the Boulder, Colorado area. This is a full-time position offering consistent day shifts with no overnights, allowing you to be home daily. You’ll play a critical role in our operations, ensuring timely and safe delivery and pickup of freight for our valued customers. As a Class A Day Cab Driver, you will be responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle (Class A CDL) to transport freight across local routes. Your duties will include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safely loading and unloading freight, managing paperwork, and adhering strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle safely and efficiently on local routes.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting any issues.
- Safely load, unload, and secure freight using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks).
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and all required paperwork (e.g., bills of lading, manifests).
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, representing FedEx Freight professionally.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of verifiable Class A driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, including HOS
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move freight weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement
- Doubles/Triples endorsement
- Previous Less-than-Truckload (LTL) driving experience
- Familiarity with the Boulder, CO metropolitan area and surrounding routes
