Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dedicated team for a night shift position at our hospital in New Port Richey, FL. This role is integral to providing high-quality, evidence-based care to acutely ill adult patients within a hospital setting. The Acute Care NP will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage complex patient cases, ensure continuity of care, and contribute to positive patient outcomes. This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work autonomously, and a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction during overnight hours. A generous night shift differential is included to compensate for scheduled evening and weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, diagnose acute and chronic conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients in critical and acute care settings.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory, imaging, and other specialized procedures.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies in accordance with established protocols and state regulations.
- Perform advanced procedures as credentialed, such as central line insertion, intubation assistance, and thoracentesis.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care, facilitate discharge planning, and ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their condition, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records, documenting all patient encounters, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, grand rounds, and continuing education to enhance clinical practice and remain current with best practices.
- Respond to medical emergencies and code situations, providing immediate life-saving interventions as needed.
Required Skills
- Current Florida APRN license with ACNP certification.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Acute Care NP in a hospital setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong critical thinking, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working night shifts in an acute care or critical care unit.
- Experience with Epic EHR system.
- Membership in professional organizations (e.g., AANP, AACN).
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or charge role.
