Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Trailer Loader with a focus on Loading Bay Operative duties to join our dynamic team in Scarborough. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe loading and unloading of trailers, ensuring goods are moved accurately and promptly to meet tight schedules. This position requires a high degree of physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety standards. You will be a key part of our supply chain, helping to ensure products reach our stores and customers on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload goods from trailers using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, pump trucks, counterbalance forklifts if certified).
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against manifest documents.
  • Organise and consolidate loads effectively to maximise trailer capacity and prevent damage during transit.
  • Operate within strict health and safety guidelines, conducting pre-use checks on equipment and reporting any defects.
  • Maintain a clean and organised loading bay area, ensuring clear pathways and safe stacking of goods.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse supervisors, and other team members.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties as required, including picking and packing when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or loading bay environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and move heavy items, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail for checking manifests and identifying discrepancies.
  • Excellent understanding and adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Counterbalance or Reach Forklift Licence (RTITB or ITSSAR accredited).
  • Previous experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience in a fast-paced logistics or retail distribution environment.
