Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Response Driver to join our team, specializing in FEMA support operations. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in transporting vital supplies, equipment, and personnel to areas affected by natural disasters and emergencies. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to strict protocols, and the ability to operate various vehicles under demanding conditions. You will work closely with our logistics coordinators and FEMA liaisons to ensure timely and efficient delivery, playing a direct role in national recovery and support efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, often over long distances and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Transport emergency supplies, equipment, and personnel to designated disaster zones and FEMA operational hubs.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal working order.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation related to cargo, mileage, and delivery schedules.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and FEMA protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics teams, and on-site personnel regarding delivery status and potential challenges.
  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required, ensuring proper securing and handling.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules, routes, and emergency response needs.
  • Prioritize safety for self, cargo, and others in all operational activities.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical, and background checks.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS devices.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, and perform duties in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in disaster relief logistics, emergency services, or government contracting.
  • HAZMAT endorsement on CDL.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience operating specialized vehicles or equipment (e.g., forklifts, heavy machinery).
  • Familiarity with FEMA operational guidelines and incident command structures.
  • Advanced defensive driving training.
