Job Description
We are seeking a highly innovative and experienced Visual Search Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this 100% remote role, you will be instrumental in leveraging cutting-edge visual search technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to significantly enhance the user experience across Apple’s renowned platforms. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of visual search features, from research and development to deployment and optimization, focusing on the latest advancements in the field. This role requires a deep understanding of computer vision, deep learning, and practical experience in building scalable visual search solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced visual search algorithms and models to power innovative features.
- Design and execute comprehensive experiments to rigorously evaluate visual search performance, accuracy, and overall user experience.
- Collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and designers to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge visual search functionalities into Apple products.
- Analyze vast datasets of images and associated metadata to uncover meaningful patterns, drive insights, and continuously improve search relevance and ranking.
- Proactively stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and breakthroughs in computer vision, deep learning, and visual search to ensure Apple remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Optimize visual search systems for unparalleled speed, accuracy, scalability, and resource efficiency.
- Contribute actively to the entire visual search product development lifecycle, from initial ideation and prototyping to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python programming and extensive experience with relevant machine learning and computer vision libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV).
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of computer vision fundamentals, advanced image processing techniques, and deep learning architectures (including CNNs, Transformers, GANs).
- Demonstrable experience with various visual search techniques, such as image retrieval, similarity search, object detection, and instance recognition.
- Familiarity with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for developing, deploying, and scaling machine learning models.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills with an ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field with a specialization in computer vision or machine learning.
- Experience with large-scale data processing, distributed systems, and MLOps practices.
- Prior experience bringing visual search or other AI-powered features from research to production in a consumer-facing product.
- A track record of relevant publications in top-tier computer vision or machine learning conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML).
