Job Description
Verbit is seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented WFH Interview Transcribers with a focus on academic and media content. This is a 100% remote contract position, offering you the flexibility to work from home. As an Interview Transcriber, you will be responsible for accurately converting audio and video recordings of interviews into text, ensuring precision in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You will work on a variety of projects, including academic research interviews, journalist interviews, podcasts, and other media-related content, playing a crucial role in making information accessible and analyzable for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio and video interviews, lectures, and other spoken content into written text.
- Ensure high levels of accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
- Adhere to specific client guidelines and style guides for each project.
- Apply time-stamps and speaker identification as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security protocols for all sensitive content.
- Meet agreed-upon deadlines and manage workload efficiently.
- Utilize transcription software and tools effectively.
- Conduct quality checks on transcribed documents before submission.
Required Skills
- Exceptional listening skills and acute attention to detail.
- Superior command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Proficient typing speed (minimum 60 WPM with high accuracy).
- Familiarity with various accents and dialects.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in academic or media transcription.
- Familiarity with transcription software platforms (e.g., Express Scribe, oTranscribe).
- Understanding of academic research methodologies or journalistic practices.
- Experience with complex or multi-speaker interviews.
- A strong background in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
