Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled MWD/LWD Technician with a strong focus on electronics and data acquisition/management to join our dynamic team in Tucson, Arizona. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sophisticated Measurement While Drilling (MWD) and Logging While Drilling (LWD) tools. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of downhole electronics and data systems, contributing directly to successful drilling operations and subsurface data acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, calibrate, and maintain MWD/LWD downhole tools and surface equipment, with a particular emphasis on electronic components and data acquisition systems.
  • Perform diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic failures in complex MWD/LWD systems.
  • Conduct quality control checks and perform routine preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment.
  • Manage and maintain data logging systems, ensuring data integrity and proper transfer from downhole tools to surface acquisition units.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for electronic assembly and repair.
  • Document all maintenance, testing, and repair activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in field operations support, including tool preparation and post-job analysis as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of electronics, including circuit boards, sensors, and microcontrollers.
  • Proficiency in using electronic testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators).
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and telemetry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly with electronic components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and system operation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics maintenance, instrumentation, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with MWD/LWD or other downhole oilfield equipment.
  • Familiarity with high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
  • Experience with specific software used in data logging or downhole tool configuration.
  • Forklift certification.
