Job Description
Are you eager to kickstart your career in the culinary world? Hilton Palacio del Rio is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our kitchen team as a Kitchen Assistant. This entry-level role is perfect for those with little to no prior experience, offering a fantastic opportunity to learn fundamental culinary techniques from experienced chefs in a bustling, high-volume kitchen. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting our culinary operations, ensuring our kitchens run smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Assist culinary staff with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items manually or using dishwashing machines.
- Properly store food items, supplies, and equipment in designated areas.
- Support chefs and cooks by retrieving ingredients and supplies as needed.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting is a plus, but not required.
- Food Handler's permit (or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe).
