Job Description

Fluor Corporation’s Glendale, CA office is seeking highly experienced and motivated professionals for a critical short-term contract role supporting a major refinery turnaround project in Houston, Texas. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and possess a deep understanding of refinery operations and turnaround methodologies. As Turnaround Support, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of the project, contributing directly to the successful restart of essential refinery units. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical and operational support during all phases of the refinery turnaround, from planning through execution and post-turnaround review.
  • Oversee and ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, procedures, and environmental regulations on-site.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget compliance.
  • Coordinate effectively with various teams, including maintenance, operations, engineering, and contractors, to streamline activities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational issues and provide rapid, effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure quality control standards are met throughout the turnaround process.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on turnaround activities, progress, and resource utilization.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in refinery operations, maintenance, or turnaround execution.
  • Proven knowledge of refinery processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and control techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Ability to work long hours and adapt to demanding project schedules.
  • Proficiency in industrial safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, HAZWOPER).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) or a related technical field.
  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role during refinery turnarounds.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or advanced safety training.
  • Familiarity with turnaround management software and tools.
