Job Description
Join Spire Edinburgh Hospitals as an Endoscopy Unit Porter and become a vital part of our dedicated healthcare team. This full-time position operates Monday to Friday, providing essential support to our specialized Endoscopy Unit. We are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and physically capable individual to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our patient services. As an Endoscopy Unit Porter, you will be instrumental in transporting patients, equipment, and specimens, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting our clinical staff. Your role is crucial in ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and a positive experience within our facility. Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients safely and efficiently within the Endoscopy Unit and across the hospital, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Moving medical equipment, supplies, and specimens as required, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assisting with the preparation and thorough cleaning of treatment areas and equipment.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the Endoscopy Unit.
- Providing direct support to nurses, doctors, and other clinical staff as needed.
- Responding promptly to requests from medical staff and ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Adhering strictly to all health and safety guidelines, infection control policies, and hospital procedures.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient interaction.
- Ability to work effectively and calmly in a busy, fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to safely lift, push, and manoeuvre equipment and patients (with assistance if required).
- Highly reliable, punctual, and organised with a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality, dignity, and respect.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, infection control, and general safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting, particularly in a patient-facing role.
- Possession of a valid First Aid certification.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
