Job Description
Are you an experienced Class A CDL holder looking to transition from company driver to owner-operator, but worried about credit checks or high upfront costs? Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Transport freight across various routes, primarily over-the-road (OTR), ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and all required paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Manage fuel efficiency and operational costs to maximize profitability within the lease-purchase program.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
- Represent Swift Transportation professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum 24 months verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Clean driving record with no major preventable accidents or moving violations in the last 3 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and ELD compliance
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Dedication to safety and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other lease-purchase programs or prior owner-operator experience
- Hazmat endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Experience with dry van, reefer, or flatbed freight
