Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Grape Press Assistant to join our vineyard and winery team in Kingston upon Hull. This entry-level position is perfect for someone passionate about wine production and eager to learn the foundational aspects of grape processing. You will play a crucial role in the harvest and pressing stages, ensuring the highest quality juice extraction for our award-winning wines. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain grape pressing equipment under supervision.
- Clean and sanitize all processing equipment, tanks, and winery areas.
- Assist with grape receiving, sorting, and destemming during harvest.
- Monitor juice quality and perform basic laboratory tasks as required.
- Handle and move grapes, juice, and other materials safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with other vineyard and winery tasks as needed, including bottling preparation and cellar work.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25kg).
- Basic understanding of mechanical operations or willingness to learn.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak harvest season.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an agricultural, food production, or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification or experience.
- Basic knowledge of viticulture or winemaking processes.
- Valid UK driving license.
