Job Description

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Linehaul Drivers for our ‘Night Owl’ operations. This crucial role involves safely transporting freight between FedEx Freight service centers during overnight hours. You will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries, adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This position offers a significant night differential pay, recognizing the valuable contribution of our night-shift team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations over long distances during overnight hours, primarily between service centers.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of freight, adhering to scheduled routes and timelines.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including DOT hours of service.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and other necessary paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations teams, and other drivers.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and varying schedules
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the job (e.g., coupling/uncoupling trailers, inspecting equipment)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement
  • Tanker (N) endorsement
  • Doubles/Triples (T) endorsement
  • Previous experience with LTL freight transportation
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
