Job Description
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Logging Truck Drivers to join our regional forestry operations based near Fargo, North Dakota. This role is crucial for the efficient and safe transportation of timber from forest harvest sites to mills and processing centers across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Operate logging trucks and trailers (e.g., log loaders, chip trailers) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Transport logs, wood chips, and other forestry products from harvest sites to designated delivery points.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment; ensure all components are in safe operating condition.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Accurately complete logbooks, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch, loggers, and mill personnel regarding load status and delivery schedules.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report any maintenance issues or mechanical problems promptly.
- Ensure proper loading and securement of timber according to safety standards.
- Navigate challenging forest roads and diverse weather conditions safely.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 3 years
- Proven ability to operate logging trucks and trailers safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) rules
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform basic troubleshooting
- Physical stamina to handle demanding work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a logging truck driver or similar heavy haul position
- Experience operating log loaders or other timber handling equipment
- Familiarity with forestry operations and timber industry practices
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs
