Job Description

Join MV Transportation as a Paratransit Driver with a strong community support focus. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about helping others, even if you have no prior experience in transportation. We provide comprehensive paid training to ensure you are fully prepared to safely and comfortably transport our passengers, many of whom are seniors or individuals with disabilities. Your role will be critical in empowering our passengers to maintain their independence and access vital services, contributing directly to the well-being of the New Port Richey community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
  • Assist passengers, including those using wheelchairs or mobility devices, with boarding and de-boarding.
  • Secure passengers and their mobility aids according to company and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to strict schedules and adapt to traffic or weather conditions.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional, and compassionate demeanor with all passengers.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and passengers.
  • Uphold all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Provide basic assistance and support to passengers as needed, fostering a positive rider experience.

Required Skills

  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic computer literacy for electronic logging.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to lift and secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices (up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Familiarity with the New Port Richey and surrounding Pasco County areas.
  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities.
