Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Spectroscopy Specialist with a strong focus on Research & Development to join our innovative team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking scientific advancements from anywhere. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, executing, and interpreting advanced spectroscopic experiments, particularly focused on material characterization and chemical analysis for new product development and existing product improvement. You will leverage a wide range of spectroscopic techniques, including but not limited to FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman, and potentially NMR or mass spectrometry, to support R&D projects. This role requires a deep understanding of spectroscopic principles, instrument operation, data analysis, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex scientific challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute advanced spectroscopic experiments to characterize materials, identify unknowns, and monitor reaction kinetics in R&D projects.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various spectroscopic instruments, ensuring optimal performance and data quality.
  • Analyze and interpret complex spectroscopic data, providing clear and concise reports and presentations to project teams.
  • Develop and validate new spectroscopic methods and techniques to address evolving R&D needs.
  • Collaborate with chemists, material scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to define experimental objectives and interpret results.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and documentation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in spectroscopy and analytical chemistry.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and innovation efforts within the R&D department.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in multiple spectroscopic techniques (e.g., FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in spectroscopic data acquisition and analysis software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Demonstrated experience in a research and development environment.
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and material science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Experience with NMR, Mass Spectrometry, or X-ray Spectroscopy.
  • Familiarity with GMP/GLP environments.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software.
  • Track record of publications or presentations in relevant fields.
