Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate MRI / CT Radiologic Technologist to join our dynamic Radiology Department at Northampton General Hospital. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MRI and CT scans in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout all imaging procedures.
  • Accurately position patients and operate imaging equipment, adjusting parameters as needed.
  • Monitor patients during examinations and be prepared to respond to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation of all examinations, including patient history and imaging data.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and equipment maintenance routines.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, radiation protection guidelines, and hospital policies.
  • Contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff and students where applicable.
  • Manage patient scheduling and workflow efficiently to ensure timely service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Valid professional registration as a Radiologic Technologist (e.g., HCPC in the UK or equivalent international registration eligible for UK recognition).
  • Proven experience in performing MRI and CT examinations.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRI and CT physics, anatomy, and cross-sectional imaging.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using hospital information systems and PACS.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Radiography or Medical Imaging.
  • Advanced certification in MRI or CT.
  • Experience working within an NHS or similar public healthcare system.
  • Familiarity with current UK healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques and protocols.
