Job Description
Join the dedicated team at Tuttle Orchards as an Entry Level Farm Hand. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about agriculture and animal care, seeking to start a rewarding career in farming. You will be instrumental in the daily operations of our farm, contributing to the health and well-being of our animals and the success of our harvests. No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training for motivated individuals eager to learn and grow with us. This role offers a hands-on experience in a vibrant agricultural setting, working closely with experienced farmers and a variety of farm animals. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks, ensuring the smooth running of our farm operations and contributing to our mission of providing fresh, local produce and educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily animal care, including feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health and welfare.
- Perform routine farm maintenance tasks such as fencing repair, cleaning barns, and maintaining farm equipment.
- Support planting, cultivation, and harvesting activities for various crops throughout the seasons.
- Operate farm machinery and tools under supervision after receiving appropriate training.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization across all farm facilities and work areas.
- Assist with customer interactions during farm events, market days, or produce sales, if needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, animal welfare guidelines, and company policies.
- Participate in general upkeep of farm grounds and facilities.
- Learn and implement sustainable farming practices under guidance.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to attendance.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Genuine passion for animals and a keen interest in agriculture.
- Must be at least 18 years old to comply with equipment operation regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic understanding of farm life, gardening, or previous outdoor labor experience.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the farm location.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) consistently.
