Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Student Accommodation Maintenance Hand to join our team in Liverpool. This role is crucial for ensuring our student residents enjoy a comfortable and well-maintained living environment. You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of small, general maintenance tasks across our student properties, contributing to the overall upkeep and safety of the buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical skills and a keen eye for detail to make a real difference in the daily lives of students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks within student rooms and communal areas, including basic plumbing, electrical fixes, and carpentry.
  • Inspect properties regularly to identify and report maintenance needs.
  • Address immediate repair requests from students and staff efficiently and courteously.
  • Assist senior maintenance staff with larger projects and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working order and maintain a tidy work area.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of general building maintenance (e.g., minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve simple repair issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and climbing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role, preferably within a residential or accommodation setting.
  • Relevant vocational training or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds in a trade).
  • Full UK driving license.
