Job Description

We are seeking a highly meticulous and detail-oriented Documentary Film Scribe to join our creative team in Denver. This entry-level role is crucial for the efficient organization and logging of raw footage for our diverse range of documentary projects. The Scribe will work closely with directors, producers, and editors to ensure all visual and auditory information is accurately transcribed, timestamped, and cataloged, providing an indispensable backbone for the post-production process. If you have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for non-fiction storytelling, this is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in a vibrant media production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meticulously log and timestamp all incoming raw footage, identifying key moments, dialogue, and visual cues.
  • Transcribe interviews, voice-overs, and on-screen dialogue accurately and efficiently.
  • Create detailed shot logs, noting camera angles, subject matter, and technical information.
  • Organize and label all media assets within our digital asset management system.
  • Assist editors and producers in quickly locating specific clips, sound bites, and visual elements.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and comprehensive documentation for each project.
  • Collaborate with the post-production team to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all logged materials.
  • Provide general administrative support to the production team as needed.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in transcription and typing at a high WPM rate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management (DAM) systems or logging software.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Google Suite, Microsoft Office).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Prior experience (even voluntary or academic) in media logging, transcription, or archival work.
  • Understanding of documentary film production workflows.
  • Familiarity with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer) is a plus.
