Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pain Management Nurse with a strong clinical focus to join our dedicated team in Torrance, CA. This stable Monday-Friday position offers an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on patients’ quality of life. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based practices to manage pain effectively, educate patients and families, and advocate for optimal patient comfort and function. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pain assessments, including patient history, physical examination, and functional status.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized pain management care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including intravenous therapies, nerve blocks, and other pain relief interventions.
  • Monitor patients' response to pain interventions, identifying and managing side effects or complications.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding pain management strategies, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and coping mechanisms.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress, care coordination, and discharge planning.
  • Serve as a resource for pain management best practices, contributing to staff education and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards, organizational policies, and professional nursing ethics.
  • Advocate for patient comfort and participate in shared decision-making regarding treatment options.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in pain management, palliative care, or a related specialty.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pain physiology, pharmacology, and various pain management modalities.
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Pain Management Nursing Certification (PMGT-BC).
  • Experience with interventional pain procedures.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred; Master's degree a plus.
  • Experience in a large integrated healthcare system.
