Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our thriving practice at Willow Dental Care Coquitlam. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical and dental history review, oral cancer screening, and periodontal charting.
- Administer prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and other non-surgical periodontal therapies.
- Apply fluoride and sealants as per patient needs and dentist's recommendations.
- Provide thorough oral hygiene instructions and education to patients, tailored to their individual needs.
- Expose, process, and interpret diagnostic radiographs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and charting.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Manage appointment schedules efficiently and assist with patient flow.
Required Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
- Eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia (CDHBC).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical skills and commitment to patient comfort and safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in dental software and basic computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to educate patients on oral hygiene practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a dental practice, although qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Certification in local anesthetic administration.
- Familiarity with Dentrix or other similar practice management software.
- Additional certifications in specialized dental procedures.
