Job Description
The RAND Corporation is seeking a Foreign Policy Associate with a specialization in the Middle East and Asia regions. This role is crucial for our ongoing efforts to provide evidence-based analysis and strategic recommendations on complex international issues. The Associate will contribute to projects examining geopolitical dynamics, security challenges, economic trends, and social developments across these vital regions. You will work within a dynamic team of researchers, contributing to reports, policy briefs, and presentations that inform policymakers and public discourse. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on foreign policy issues pertaining to the Middle East and Asia regions.
- Contribute to the drafting of research reports, policy briefs, articles, and other publications.
- Assist in project design, data collection, and methodological approaches for various studies.
- Monitor regional political, economic, and security developments to identify emerging trends and challenges.
- Present research findings to internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients.
- Collaborate effectively with senior researchers and project leaders.
- Participate in workshops, conferences, and seminars relevant to regional expertise.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Area Studies, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in foreign policy research, analysis, or related roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in the politics, security, and economics of at least one sub-region within the Middle East or Asia.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and synthesis.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Fluency in a regional language (e.g., Arabic, Persian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Urdu).
- Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, think tanks, or international organizations.
- Demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals or major policy outlets.
