Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Upstream Environmental Aide with a strong ‘Green focus’ to join our dynamic environmental team in Portland, ME. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental protection, sustainability, and supporting upstream resource management projects. The successful candidate will assist senior environmental specialists in various tasks, contributing to the responsible development and operation of projects while emphasizing eco-friendly practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection and analysis of environmental data from upstream project sites, including soil, water, and air samples.
- Support the preparation of environmental impact assessments, permit applications, and compliance reports with a focus on green methodologies.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.
- Help identify and implement sustainable practices and innovative environmental solutions for upstream operations.
- Maintain accurate records and databases of environmental monitoring activities and project documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
- Participate in community outreach and stakeholder engagement activities related to environmental initiatives.
- Perform general administrative tasks to support the environmental department as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in an environmental-related field.
- Familiarity with GIS software or environmental data management systems.
- Knowledge of specific upstream industry environmental challenges (e.g., oil & gas, mining, water resource management).
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (or willingness to obtain).
