Job Description
Are you an experienced CDL Class A truck driver looking for a rewarding career with flexible home time and excellent benefits? Schneider National is seeking dedicated Multi-State Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team in The Woodlands, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight across multiple states, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all DOT regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) safely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects.
- Transport freight across designated multi-state routes, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and submit all required paperwork promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding freight status and potential delays.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Manage unexpected situations on the road, such as traffic, weather, or mechanical issues, with professionalism.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of freight, securing cargo as required.
Required Skills
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service, and safe driving practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and other in-cab technology.
- Physical ability to perform routine tasks associated with truck driving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tanker or HazMat endorsements.
- Experience with various types of freight and trailers (e.g., dry van, reefer).
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and customer service.
- Experience with multi-state or long-haul routes.
