Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and stable individual to join our team as an Oncology Unit Porter, specializing in patient care. This vital role involves providing compassionate and efficient transport services for patients, equipment, and sensitive materials within our busy Oncology Unit. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, directly contributing to patient comfort and operational efficiency. This position requires a calm demeanor, reliability, and a strong commitment to patient dignity and safety. Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus, but full training will be provided for candidates demonstrating the right attitude and stable work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients safely and sensitively to and from the Oncology Unit for treatments, appointments, and other areas of the hospital.
- Assisting patients with mobility, ensuring comfort and privacy during transfers.
- Moving medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient notes efficiently and according to strict protocols.
- Responding promptly to requests for portering services from clinical staff.
- Maintaining cleanliness and readiness of all transport equipment.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Providing supportive communication to patients and their families during transport.
- Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
