Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Chemist specializing in Quality Control (QC) to join our high-volume production facility in Decatur, Illinois. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products through rigorous analytical testing and adherence to established protocols. This role is critical to maintaining our high standards of product integrity and operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory instruments (e.g., GC, HPLC, Titrators, Spectrophotometers).
- Interpret and analyze data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment, performing calibration and preventative maintenance.
- Document all test results accurately and completely, maintaining detailed records and laboratory notebooks.
- Investigate out-of-specification results, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and support process improvements.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and quality control procedures.
- Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods as needed.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality Control or analytical laboratory within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with a variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation (GC, HPLC, Titration, UV/Vis Spectroscopy).
- Strong understanding of GMP, GLP, and ISO standards.
- Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Experience in the agricultural, food processing, or specialty chemicals industry.
- Proven track record in method validation and transfer.
