Job Description

Are you passionate about community service and creating welcoming environments? The City of Seattle Parks and Recreation is seeking a dedicated Leisure Center Assistant to support the daily operations of our community leisure centers. In this role, you will be the front-line ambassador, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors, assisting with program activities, and maintaining facility standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, answer inquiries, and provide information regarding programs, facilities, and services.
  • Process registrations, manage bookings, and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for various activities and events.
  • Monitor facility usage, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and rules.
  • Perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the center remains clean and orderly.
  • Support program instructors and staff as needed, including administrative tasks.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid if necessary (training provided).

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for registration and scheduling systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform duties requiring physical activity (e.g., bending, standing, walking).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a recreational, customer service, or public-facing role.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of municipal parks and recreation services.
  • Experience with recreation management software (e.g., ActiveNet).
