Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Analytical Laboratory Supervisor to lead our dynamic team in Meridian, Idaho. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of analytical testing, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for method development, validation, instrument maintenance, and strict adherence to regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO, FDA, GMP). Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of analytical chemists and lab technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Oversee the daily execution of analytical testing, including raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with internal SOPs, cGMP, ISO 17025, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage instrument calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting for a variety of analytical equipment (HPLC, GC, AA, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV/Vis).
- Develop, optimize, and validate new analytical methods as needed to support product development and quality initiatives.
- Review and approve laboratory data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of results.
- Lead investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) results and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and across quality functions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory setting, preferably within the food, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, AA, ICP-MS, FTIR, and UV/Vis.
- Strong understanding of cGMP, ISO 17025, FDA regulations, and other relevant quality systems.
- Proven ability in analytical method development, validation, and transfer.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance methodologies.
- Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification.
- Experience in sensory analysis or microbiology a plus.
