Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented GC-MS Analyst to join our high-precision laboratory team in Pasco, WA. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in analytical chemistry and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to contribute to critical projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of various samples, ensuring data quality, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation. A sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation for routine and complex sample analysis.
  • Prepare samples according to established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform data acquisition, processing, and interpretation using GC-MS software.
  • Ensure accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of analytical results.
  • Conduct instrument troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and quality control procedures.
  • Document all experimental data and results thoroughly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with team members on method development and validation projects.
  • Assist in the training of junior laboratory personnel when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting GC-MS systems.
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and chromatographic techniques.
  • Experience with sample preparation techniques for GC-MS analysis.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and quality assurance/control (QA/QC) guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
  • Knowledge of environmental or pharmaceutical testing methodologies.
  • Experience with Agilent GC-MS systems.
