Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Baseboard Corner Finisher for a specialized carpentry gig in Downtown Halifax. This role requires exceptional precision in cutting, fitting, and finishing baseboard corners to achieve seamless and aesthetically superior results. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of various wood types, and expertise in handling specialized tools to ensure every joint is perfect. This is a contract opportunity for a professional who takes immense pride in their craftsmanship and can deliver top-tier finishes on high-end residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Precisely measure, cut, and fit baseboard molding, focusing on intricate corner angles and transitions.
- Perform miter cuts and coping techniques with exceptional accuracy to ensure tight, seamless joints at inside and outside corners.
- Prepare surfaces for baseboard installation, including cleaning, sanding, and minor repairs.
- Securely install baseboards using appropriate fastening methods (e.g., nail guns, adhesives) while minimizing visible fasteners.
- Execute detailed finishing work, including sanding, filling nail holes, and preparing for painting or staining.
- Inspect finished work for quality, ensuring all corners are perfectly aligned, flush, and free of gaps or imperfections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in finish carpentry, specifically baseboard installation and corner finishing.
- Proficiency in using power tools (miter saws, nail guns, sanders) and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
