Job Description
Join Blackstone Catering as a Part-time Catering Prep team member for our weekend major events! This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for contributing to high-quality culinary experiences. You will be instrumental in preparing food items, organizing kitchen stations, and ensuring our catering operations run smoothly during peak event times. This role is perfect for someone looking for flexible weekend work and interested in gaining experience in the bustling world of event catering.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist culinary team with basic food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions.
- Set up and organize kitchen stations with necessary equipment and ingredients prior to events.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support the loading and unloading of catering supplies and equipment for event transportation.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed, ensuring a constant supply for the team.
- Help with basic inventory management and ensure proper storage of food items.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other catering staff to ensure timely and efficient event execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support catering operations during major events.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable transportation to event locations and consistent weekend availability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or food service role is a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain one upon hiring).
