Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical QA Tester with a deep understanding of game engines, specifically the Frostbite Engine, to join our innovative quality assurance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and overall quality of our cutting-edge game titles built on the Frostbite platform. You will work closely with development teams, identifying complex technical issues, driving investigations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our testing processes and tools. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for game features, systems, and engine functionalities, with a specific focus on the Frostbite Engine.
- Perform in-depth technical analysis and debugging to identify root causes of complex bugs related to rendering, physics, networking, performance, and stability within the Frostbite ecosystem.
- Collaborate directly with engineers, designers, and production teams to reproduce, isolate, and verify fixes for defects.
- Develop and maintain automated tests, scripts, and tools to enhance testing efficiency and coverage, specifically targeting engine-level components.
- Monitor game performance, memory usage, and stability using profiling tools and provide detailed reports.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies, advocating for best practices in technical testing.
- Participate in risk assessment and mitigation strategies, providing insightful feedback on game quality and potential issues.
- Mentor junior QA testers and share technical knowledge across the team.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in a Technical QA or SDET role within the video game industry.
- Demonstrable experience with game engines, particularly Frostbite, Unreal Engine, or Unity.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) for test automation and tool development.
- Strong understanding of game development pipelines, methodologies, and technical architecture.
- Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) and test case management tools.
- Ability to analyze technical logs, crash reports, and performance data to identify issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Direct experience working with the Frostbite Engine.
- Experience with performance profiling tools (e.g., PIX, RenderDoc, Visual Studio Profiler).
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience testing on multiple platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Mobile).
- Knowledge of graphics APIs (DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL) or networking protocols.
