Job Description

Chevron Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Junior Downstream Financial Analyst to join our dynamic finance team in Irvine, CA. This entry-level position is ideal for recent finance graduates eager to apply their academic knowledge in a fast-paced corporate environment. You will play a crucial role in analyzing the financial performance of our downstream business segment, which includes refining, marketing, and chemicals. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting within a global energy leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the downstream segment.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks against budget and forecast.
  • Support the financial planning and forecasting processes, including annual budgets and long-range plans.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business initiatives, capital projects, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and accounting, to gather data and insights.
  • Prepare presentations and summaries of financial results for management review.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and analyses as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial functions).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship experience in finance or accounting.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
  • Understanding of the energy industry, particularly downstream operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
