Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team at a school within the Darlington area. This is an entry-level, term-time only position, perfect for individuals looking for consistent work during school periods with holidays off. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious and delicious meals to students and staff, contributing to a positive dining experience and a vibrant school community. No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity to start your career in the catering industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes, following recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Serve food to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring portion control and presentation standards are met.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, including washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces, and sanitizing equipment.
- Assist with the setup and clearing of dining areas before and after meal services.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, under supervision.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Receive and store deliveries, checking for quality and quantity.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
