Job Description
Join Electronic Arts as a Localization Tester, specializing in Spanish, Japanese, and French. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the linguistic quality and cultural appropriateness of our game titles for global audiences. This position involves meticulous testing of in-game text, dialogue, and UI elements to identify and report linguistic bugs, cultural inaccuracies, and formatting issues. Your keen eye for detail and strong bilingual capabilities will directly impact the player experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive linguistic quality assurance checks on localized game content across multiple platforms.
- Identify, document, and track localization bugs and issues using internal bug tracking systems.
- Collaborate closely with localization project managers, game developers, and external translation teams.
- Verify cultural accuracy and appropriateness of game content for target regions (Spanish, Japanese, French-speaking markets).
- Test game builds for text overflows, truncated strings, incorrect fonts, and other display issues related to localization.
- Provide detailed feedback and suggestions for improving the localization process and quality.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and project schedules.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native proficiency in English and at least two of the following languages: Spanish, Japanese, French (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Familiarity with various gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and software.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in localization, QA testing, or linguistic review.
- Knowledge of bug tracking databases (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
- Passion for video games and an understanding of gaming terminology.
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
