Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Public Sector Events Logistics Assistant to join our City Council team. This role is crucial in supporting the successful planning, coordination, and execution of various public events, community gatherings, and council meetings. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a passion for community engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the civic life of Kissimmee and work alongside dedicated public servants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the logistical planning and execution of City Council meetings, public forums, and community events.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors for event setup, audiovisual needs, catering, and materials.
  • Manage event supplies inventory, including ordering, tracking, and distribution.
  • Prepare event spaces, ensuring all necessary equipment and resources are in place and operational.
  • Provide on-site support during events, addressing any logistical issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Facilitate communication with attendees, speakers, and participants as needed.
  • Assist with post-event breakdown, clean-up, and evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate records of event details, expenditures, and feedback.
  • Support the City Council office with administrative tasks as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Public Administration, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in event planning, coordination, or administrative support, preferably in a public sector setting.
  • Familiarity with local government operations and community services.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.
