Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced drivers to join our FedEx Custom Critical team with a focus on expedited freight. This is a critical role responsible for the safe and timely transportation of urgent and high-value shipments across designated routes. Drivers will operate state-of-the-art vehicles, adhere to strict safety regulations, and maintain precise documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (sprinter vans, straight trucks, or tractor-trailers, depending on experience and endorsements) for expedited freight deliveries.
- Transport time-critical, high-value, and potentially hazardous materials shipments.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, as well as company safety policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle is in optimal condition.
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and all required documentation using electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other systems.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and support staff regarding shipment status and potential delays.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Represent FedEx Custom Critical with professionalism and a commitment to customer service.
- Be available for varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Air Brake) if required for vehicle class.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and ELD compliance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift and move freight up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with expedited freight or time-critical logistics.
- Familiarity with temperature-controlled freight operations.
- Current Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement.
- Experience with various types of freight and securing techniques.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the Western US region.
