Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and stable Sound Reinforcement Technician with a specific focus on house of worship environments. This role involves the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio systems for live services, events, and recordings. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sound engineering principles, a meticulous approach to technical execution, and a passion for creating impactful audio experiences in a spiritual setting. You will work with a diverse range of audio equipment, ensuring clear and consistent sound quality for all attendees and broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and tear down sound systems for worship services, special events, and rehearsals.
  • Perform sound checks and mix front-of-house (FOH) and monitor mixes for vocalists, musicians, and speakers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs of audio equipment (microphones, mixers, amplifiers, speakers).
  • Assist with the integration of new audio technology and system upgrades.
  • Train volunteers or less experienced staff on proper audio equipment usage and best practices.
  • Manage and organize audio equipment inventory.
  • Collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, and other technical staff to achieve desired sonic outcomes.
  • Ensure proper gain staging, equalization, compression, and effects processing.
  • Operate digital and analog mixing consoles effectively.
  • Record and archive audio of services and events as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in live sound reinforcement, with a significant portion in house of worship settings.
  • Proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas, Soundcraft).
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow, acoustics, and gain structure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio systems quickly.
  • Experience with microphone selection and placement for various instruments and vocals.
  • Familiarity with in-ear monitor (IEM) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to reliable and stable work performance.
  • Basic computer networking knowledge for AV systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in audio engineering or related fields (e.g., CTS, Dante Level 2).
  • Experience with broadcast audio mixing and streaming technologies.
  • Proficiency in audio recording and editing software (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live).
  • Knowledge of lighting and video systems integration.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or a related discipline.
