Job Description
Join Amazon’s Brooklyn team as a Returns Clerk, specializing in processing e-commerce exchanges. In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of our customer service promise, ensuring the accurate and efficient handling of returned merchandise. Your responsibilities will include receiving, inspecting, documenting, and processing customer returns and exchanges, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and sort incoming customer returns from e-commerce channels.
- Verify product condition against return documentation and exchange requests.
- Process returns accurately into the inventory management system, including data entry for product identification and return reasons.
- Prepare items for restocking, refurbishment, or disposal according to company guidelines.
- Coordinate with inventory and quality control teams to resolve discrepancies or damaged goods issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the returns processing area.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding return status and workflow.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 49 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or returns processing role
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or e-commerce platforms
- Experience operating basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck)
- Knowledge of basic product quality assessment for various merchandise types
